Bad Hair, Braces And Hot Babes

Good Morning!

I try to come away from every situation, good or bad, with new knowledge or a lesson learned. Here's what I learned from a recent photo shoot for a newspaper story about writers:

1) Never get new haircut I don't know how to fix right before photo shoot.
2) Never do photo shoot after getting braces (or at least try to smile with mouth closed)
3) Never do photo shoot with the gorgeous hot babe Linda Castillo (www.lindacastillo.com). Even on a good hair, no braces day, I am guaranteed to look like a goober when I'm next to her.

Actually, I would do another photo shoot with Linda in a second, despite her disgusting gorgeous-ness, because she's also smart, talented and one of the nicest people I know. Anyway, the article turned out great. Here's a link, if you're interested. It's the story that ran in the newspaper. I'm not sure the photos are there, though. I won't complain about that. ;-)

On to other topics... I'm so sad Don Knotts passed away. What a wonderful legacy of laughter he left behind! Some of my favorite Barney Fyfe moments: "Juanita...Juanita...Juanita." The bullet he always carried in his pocket. When he ticketed Gomer for a parking violation then committed the same offense, and Gomer did a "citizen's arrest." What are some of your favorite Barney Fyfe moments?

I have a winner for my February contest at www.jenniferarcher.net! Glena Spurgeon from Del City, Oklahoma will receive an autographed copy of my new novel MY PERFECTLY IMPERFECT LIFE. Thanks for entering the contest, Glena! The book hits bookstores tomorrow, if it's not out already! My new March contest will be up on the site soon. The winner will receive an autographed copy of a book from my backlist--winner's choice.

Happy Reading,

Jenny

Hiking Naked: Why I Don't Despite False Evidence To The Contrary

Hey Everyone! My first real website b log entry. Here goes. I hope to use this place to talk about books, movies, current events, random musings. And, okay, I admit it, on occasion I might even indulge in some shameless self promo! I hope you'll drop by often and join in, leave a comment or two.

You may be wondering about the title of this entry...Well, see, my previous website of about a year ago was under a different url. I let it go when the fabulous Barb at Romance and Friends designed my current website and I began using jenniferarcher.net as my "address." Well, it seems that since then, in January of this year to be precise, someone "bought" the old url I previously used for my site. A friend, as well as a gracious reader emailed to tell me that some places on the web still have my old site address listed and when they clicked on it, it took them to a "nudist" site! I checked it out myself and AACK! The screen fills with a photo of a man and woman standing on top of a mountain wearing only their hiking boots. Oh, and the man has on a hat. Now, here's the really ironic part--the hat is exactly like one my husband wears when we go to the mountains! And there are actually pictures of us on my REAL site of the two of us mountain hiking. (I'm not sure if he's wearing the hat...maybe. But we're wearing clothes. I promise). So...in case you've landed on that site while trying to reach mine, let me assure you THOSE HIKERS AREN'T US! I don't hike naked and here's why:
1) I sunburn easily
2) I won't risk exposing certain parts of my anatomy to scratchy bushes, tree limbs, weeds, etc.
3) While I have no hangups about the naked human body, I do have hangups about *my* naked human body.
4) If my children found out, they'd never speak to me again.

I could go on, but you get the idea.

In other news, tomorrow I'll post the winner of my February contest here and tell you about my March contest. Meanwhile, I'm headed to the bookstore to see if my March release MY PERFECTLY IMPERFECT LIFE, has hit the shelves yet! Though it's mainstream women's fiction, expect to find it in the Romance section under "Archer" or on the "Harlequin" book rack in the Romance section, if you're looking.

Happy Reading,

Jennifer
